SENSORY FRIENDLY CLASSES - Adaptive Gymnastics (Ages 4+)

A supportive class for children with ASD, SPD, ADHD, and other unique needs—where movement meets connection, regulation, and fun.

At Industry Gymnastics, we believe all children deserve a safe and joyful space to explore movement—especially those who learn and process the world a little differently. Our sensory-friendly classes are thoughtfully designed for children with special needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing disorder (SPD), ADHD, mobility issues, and more.

These classes offer a slower pace, smaller group sizes, and higher adult support so children can build physical confidence, sensory regulation, and social-emotional skills in a way that works for them.

Is This the Right Class for Your Child?

Understanding the difference between Adaptive (Sensory-Friendly) and Inclusive Classes:

At Industry Gymnastics, all of our programs are rooted in inclusivity. That said, our Sensory-Friendly classes are not interchangeable with our Inclusive Cubs, Tigers, Jaguars, or Panthers classes—and here’s why.

Our Inclusive Classes (Cubs, Tigers, Jaguars, Panthers) are designed for children who:

  • Can follow basic group instructions and safely explore equipment with minimal adult intervention.

  • Thrive in a faster-paced, busier environment, where four classes may run simultaneously, with around 28 children in the gym.

  • Are able to engage in structured skill-building progressions with fewer sensory modifications.

  • Benefit from peer interaction and task-focused goals, with a 7:1 student-to-coach ratio and lower adult support.

In contrast, our Adaptive (Sensory-Friendly) Classes are specifically designed for children who:

  • Benefit from more individualized support, often needing a trusted adult present and actively participating.

  • Need a quieter, less stimulating space, with controlled lighting, sound, and visuals to help with regulation and focus.

  • Require flexible structure to engage in movement at their own pace, with room for redirection, breaks, and sensory input (like swinging or jumping) before joining group activities.

  • Thrive with a fair vs. equal approach—meaning we tailor strategies for each child, rather than applying the same expectations across the board.

We’re here to support every child, but creating the right match between class environment and individual needs is essential for safety, success, and joy.

Medical Note:

If your child has Down Syndrome, a completed Atlanto-Axial screening and medical clearance from your healthcare provider are required before participation.

If your child has mobility challenges (such as Cerebral Palsy), we encourage you to email us before registering so we can discuss whether our class structure and environment will be the right fit.

What To Expect:

Flexible, Child-Led Structure

Classes are gently guided with plenty of room to explore. We meet each child where they are—whether they need to swing first, watch before joining, or ease into the space slowly.

High Adult Support

An adult over 18 joins the class with the child, and our coaches provide hands-on support, encouragement, and regulation strategies throughout.

Sensory-Conscious Environment

Lighting and music are thoughtfully adjusted. We minimize visual and auditory distractions to help children feel safe and focused.

Every Child, Every Need

We practice a fair, not equal approach: some kids need extra movement to engage, while others thrive with consistency and routine. All are supported.
