It's that time of year again! School is back in session and after school sports and activities ensue! With our semester in full swing, let's chat about the benefits of recreational gymnastics.
HOW CAN MY CHILD BENEFIT FROM GYMNASTICS?
For preschoolers, it goes far beyond the physical benefits that gymnastics can provide. While it's great for your toddler to be active and develop fine and gross motor skills as early as possible, the cognitive development they gain from gymnastics classes are far more advantageous, such as:
Problem solving skills
Mental focus and concentration
In our preschool-aged Cubs classes, our coaches find fun and creative ways to incorporate singing, counting, shapes and colors, games, and interactive questions into gymnastics to aid in the development of these skills.
For children above the age of four, there is an increase physical development, but the cognitive and social development increases, as well.
Body awareness and control
Learning to work with others
Communication and interaction with peers and adults
Learning to be respectful, take turns, and follow directions
Learning how to handle emotional challenges
Persistence and perseverance
Gymnastics can be beneficial in so many ways, and will not only help to give your child a more active lifestyle and build confidence, but it can teach many life lessons as well. Whether your child has never tried gymnastics before or is flipping off the walls at home, it's never too late to try out a class and see the wonders it can do for their life and yours!
