Small Biz Gift Guide

Written by: Kate

These are wild times. I can’t remember ever needing to know this much about rolling averages, the electoral college, or vaccination development. And if that weren’t enough, the holiday season has suddenly arrived again!

It’s okay, though: we’ve got your holiday shopping covered with a gift guide full of awesome small businesses (many BIPOC-owned), so you can get that wishlist handled AND feel good.

Face masks are here to stay, at least for the next several months. The folks over at Lockwood have some incredibly cute options that make it fun and easy to wear one. It’s also a great spot to pick up your holiday cards and a host of unique, awesome gifts.

Who doesn’t want their home to smell amazing? These soy-based, phthalate-free candles from Astoria Candle Company are so good. We can't wait to try their Orange & Clove Pomander candle!

It’s no secret that we’re fans of burning sage in our homes and at work for a little spiritual cleanse. Enchantments NYC is a great place to shop for sage bundles (and candles, talismans, or any other supplies the bruja in your life might need).

Whether snuggling on the couch during a snowy day or getting warm during a Zoom meeting, a cozy throw blanket is a must. Jungalow has a bunch of beautiful options. We're loving the Planetarium Throw Blanket!

Zoom, GoogleMeets, Among Us, Animal Crossing - everyone is spending so much time on screens these days. Give the gift of a break for your loved ones’ eyes with Astoria Bookshop. Not only do they have a great selection of print and audio books, but the wonderful humans who work in the store can help you pick just the right title!

Nothing says “I love you” like coffee & a nosh. Pick up a Black Star Bakery & Cafe gift card to show you care.

Not much is as comforting and healing as a cup of tea. The folks at Brooklyn Tea have an amazing selection of teas and tea gear that will make the perfect gift.

Who doesn’t love a nice soak in a hot bath on a cold night? A bath bomb from Witch Baby Soap makes it even better: they’re beautiful, smell great, don’t stain your bath, and leave your skin feeling silky smooth.

Science is fun. Especially when it’s hands-on. Brown Toy Box’s Young Inventor Curated Subscription Boxes are designed to make STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) fun and accessible, particularly for black and brown children. You don’t have to buy a subscription, either: you can buy individual boxes by subject.

During COVID, many of us have rediscovered the joys of board games and puzzles. Gamestoria is a great place to find something new and different.

Crafting is another great way to spend time when you’re stuck indoors. Brooklyn Craft Company sells some really cool kits for everything from cross-stitch to needle felting to basket weaving. You can also get gift cards for workshops!

Give the little gymnast in your life the gift of a one-on-one lesson with their favorite coach! Book a private lesson or buy a gift card for one in our online shop! Don't forget to pick up an adorable new leotard, too!
